Over 25 Christmas trees will be elaborately ornamented by some of Sedona’s favorite artists including Andrea Smith, Lisa Danielle, Rod Bearcloud, Chris Navarro, Robert Shields, and John Soderberg and displayed on the upper terrace overlooking Patio del Norte. Silent bids will be taken on each art inspired tree—some six footers and the smaller tabletop faux trees. Proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Arizona and the Chameleon Project in Sedona.
The “Festival of Trees” will run November 28th, 2008 until December 6th. During this period, the Christmas trees-turned-art will be on display and can be viewed and bid on.

Where did you get the cactus christmas tree? Does a company sell just the tree? Would you send me the name? Thank you, Carolyn Lalk
Carolyn, the “tree” and the image we used in the article belong to Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village in Sedona, Arizona. Because it takes 50 – 70 YEARS for a saguaro to begin to grow one arm, it is a pricey proposition to buy an 8 – 20 foot mature saguaro and requires very special transport; somewhere in the range of $100 per foot, counting both the “trunk” and each arm, if applicable. If you’re interested in having a saguaro cactus Christmas tree, think about having one made or buying one fabricated out of metal or other materials.
There ARE artificial cactus’s just like the photo in the Festival of trees at Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village . They are not “real” but fake. They are about $250 for a prelit 4″ cactus. There is a Christmas shop at this mall that will have them drop shipped to your house. I dont know the name of the shop. Sorry.
I did a websearch to find one for myself and they are hard to find. Only found one website that had them but they are sold out. The 6′ size is hundreds. This is a good market niche for someone for sure.
The cost is rediculous for the fake cactus, but it does look really good. I saw at least 2-3 fake saguaros at the Festival of Trees in Sedona. They are apparently wire based inside and covered in the kind of “piney” green that you’s see on a fake Christmas tree.
I bought a cactus made out of metal bar & just wrapped it in prelit garland. I found the metal frame at a flea market. An old cowboy was doing this as a side business. I only bought a 4 foot one because I was living in a very small apartment at the time. Now that we have a home I’ve been searching everywhere for a cactus Christmas tree 6′ – 7′ tall. I found one online that was $297.00 for a 5′ and you could pay another $47.00 for a 2′ extention. I thought that was kinda pricey for one, but it may be my only option. And as luck would have it, I cannot find that old cowboy. If y’all find one cheaper & better than the deal I found, please let me know!
