I've lived in Arizona my whole life and had never actually hiked to a vortex until about a month ago. usually took the common tourist approach to experiencing this by driving my car to the Airport Vortex at sunset; which I have noticed is an increasingly popular thing to do. But I finally climbed (yes climbed!)to the vortex at Cathedral Rock. There were points where I found myself with my toes digging into a ledge and pulling myself up. It was great fun and completely worth it! There was a great sense of journey and reward once I got to the top, and the view is spectacular. I highly recommend this semi-popular hike. It is well worth it!
